Examination Regulations for Certification as “Forensic Toxicologist GTFCh“

1. Examination objective

Passing the exam aims at proving that the applicant has extensive knowledge in the area of forensic toxicology. The examination is subject to fee. The examination fee will be fixed by the executive committee.

2. Examination contents

Examination consists of subsections from the postgraduate professional education catalogue (app. 1) for certification as “Forensic Toxicologist GTFCh“.

3. Examination board

The examination board consists of four GTFCh members of which at least three must have attained the certification as “Forensic Toxicologist GTFCh “. At least one member of the examination board must also be a member of the certification commission. The chairman of the examination board must be qualified as a professor with corresponding experience in university teaching and examination. A member of the certification commission keeps the minutes. The members of the examination board may not be affiliated with the applicant's institution. The applicant's mentor is not admitted as a member of the examination board. The GTFCh's president is informed of the formation of the examination board in writing.
 
The examination board is responsible for organising the examination.
 
The applicant may submit a written objection to the executive committee to the composition of the examination board within four weeks after notification. Should objection be allowed, a new examination board must be formed within four weeks.

4. Type of examination

The oral and individual examination is closed to the public. Examination should take about one to two hours. The keeper of the minutes writes the minutes during examination and documents the result which has to be reached in consensus. The minutes are signed by the members of the examination board and sent to the chairman of the certification commission within one week, who will immediately pass them on to the GTFCh's president.

5. Resitting the Examination 

Should the examination not be passed, it can be resat. Repeat examination must be held within a year and be arranged by a newly assembled examination board.

6. Failing repeat examination

Should an applicant fail to pass the repeat examination, he may submit a written objection to the president within a period of three months. The executive committee decides on further action. Legal recourse is excluded.
